More Than Basketball...2020 & Beyond
HOOPS IN THE SUN HAS COLLABORATED WITH VARIOUS COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ENTITIES SINCE THE PANDEMIC FOR CLOTHING, TOY, BOOK BAG AND TURKEY DRIVES FOR OVER 200 PEOPLE IN LOCAL BRONX COMMUNITIES. THE LEAGUE ALSO CREATED “THE SUMMIT”, WHICH WAS A SAFE ALTERNATIVE HEALTH & FITNESS WORKOUT FOR OVER 200 KIDS AGES 8 TO 18 TO STAY ACTIVE EVERY SUNDAY FROM JULY - AUGUST.
The Summit, supported by the LIDS Foundation, is open to youth ages 5 and up and will accommodate up to 100 participants FREE OF CHARGE! Provided will be t-shirts, bags, socks and water bottles. Participation trophies/certificates will be handed out, as well as healthy snacks and drinks during Summit sessions.
The 2025 session will take place at Orchard Beach in the Bronx on the iconic Hoops in the Sun courts from July 12 - September 7 (Saturday's only, with Sunday's being backup dates) from 9am - 11:30am
The sessions will include basketball drills, sand workouts, training, cardio and getting our younger athletes ready for the next level of sports!
